You Can Make a Difference

Here’s a list of suggestions to get you started:

1. Know what’s happening in your local school district.
2. Give your school a hand by volunteering your talents, or even just your time.
3. Support legislators who support education.
4. Encourage friends and family to add their name to our list: Facebook | Twitter
5. Speak up at town meetings held by elected representatives.
6. Take part in public hearings on your district’s financing, buildings and other key issues.
7. Follow your local school board.
8. Get the facts, and make an informed decision on local referendum requests from your school district.
9. Attend school plays, sports events, concerts and other extracurricular activities.
10. Write letters to the editor of your local newspaper.
11. Join the PTA or form a coalition of your own to support your local schools.
12. Visit United for Schools, a new effort by the American Federation of Teachers to give a voice to pro-education advocates, as well as tools and resources that impact students, educators and families.
